NO TV for baby

Finally! Refunds for buying into the dangerous myth that “educational” videos make babies smarter-the opposite is true. When children under 2 watch television, their brains are in an atrophy-like state: not learning, not creating healthy neuronal connections, just being hypnotized by the television, a technology their young brains are not yet meant to digest. Disney, the parent company of Baby Einstein, is now giving refunds for those who bought into the dangerous hype, after being forced to do so by governmental watchdogs. When you have 2 kids that are far enough apart in age it becomes close to impossible to allow our 6 year old to watch TV and somehow prevent our daughter, who is now 22 months, from watching any at all. We went out of our way with the first child to limit TV in the first 2 years but it has been impossible with our second child since we allow our 6 year old to watch some.
I am no scientist but I really think that all the Sesame Street has helped out daughter excel in letter and word recognition. She will point at letters in her books and identify them or try to sound them out on her own, my wife and I assume she is getting a large portion of this from the TV. While I am sure that the findings of the report referred to above are true, I assume that there was some small percentage of children that were able to be exposed to TV under the age of 2 and not suffer any ill effects? At least I hope so…or we have ruined our daughter.

Keep up the good work Jenn!

HI Garth! I don’t know ANY parent who completely keeps television from their children. In this age, that would be impossible! You have not ruined Sadie–you are an incredible father! She is so lucky to have you. Thanks for reading! Great to see you! I loved how Ozzy was loving the hugs!
